and palliative care. It warns of the importance of clear communication between
professionals and those near the end of life, and their carers. In particular, care
professionals are advised:
- When speaking to
a person who is dying or their relatives, understand the impact of terms used
- Where possible
try to explain things in plain language
- Always check what
the person has understood from the conversation
- Always speak in a
kind and caring way
